Joaquin Oliver (a/k/a Guac) would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on August 4 had he not been killed in the shootings at Parkland High School in Florida on February 14, 2018.

This summer, Guac’s parents Manny and Patricia Oliver — “Change the Ref” — are traveling to 23+ cities and towns that have been impacted by gun violence to honor and celebrate their son’s 23rd birthday. They will be arriving in Guac’s Magical Tour Bus in Newtown on August 12.

Local organizers have reserved the outdoor space at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, from 5 to 7 pm to welcome them to the community.

The Jr Newtown Action Alliance (Jr NAA) will host the community gathering with music, poetry, art, and a food truck.

Reservations are requested and can be done here. Call 203-491-0366 or e-mail info@newtownaction.org for additional information or to have the registration link sent.

Newtown is one of 23 stops on a national tour to cities and towns impacted by gun violence, organized by the parents of a Parkland victim to honor their son through education and art.
